Regular suspension wasn't cutting the mustard for Ed's massive load of gear, so Jansport had to design the Direct Connect suspension to stay light but support big packs comfortably. Stamped aluminum stays connect directly to the hip belt for efficient weight transfer, and breathable Brock foam wicking meshes keep moisture under control. Designed to carry all the necessities of a summit expedition and nothing else, the external attachments on the Endeavor give you two places to lash pads and such, and two holsters for ice tools. The Endeavor 8000's claw lid detaches to become a summit daypack, because even Ed doesn't want to bring everything on that last push to the top.
